LegalQuiz

Q1: As I was walking across the street, I was hit by a car that was not insured. I have doctor bills and was out of work. I didn't think I could make a claim because the car had no insurance. Can I make a claim?

A1: The short answer is, yes, there probably is something you can do.

If either you or a household member has an auto policy, then even though your vehicle or the vehicle of a household member was not involved in the accident, you can make a claim on that policy. Your medical bills and wages should be promptly paid under the PIP (Personal Injury Protection) portion of that policy. You may also be additionally entitled to recover for any pain, suffering, scarring, and permanent medical condition from the Uninsured Motorist portion of that policy.

You may also be entitled to make other claims. A more detailed interview with a lawyer at Bates & Riordan can fully explain all of your legal rights and remedies. Click here to Contact Us.
