Financial Considerations

PERSONAL INJURY & BODILY INJURY CASES:

If you have been injured, you may be facing medical bills, damage to your car, and lost time from work.

Bates & Riordan will skillfully pursue every possible source to get your bills paid and to compensate you for your pain, distress, and disruption.

Your case will be handled on a "contingency fee" basis, meaning that we are paid only if we successfully recover money on your behalf. You do not need to pay any up-front charges.

ALL OTHER CASES:
The fee schedule for all other matters will be determined by the facts and circumstances of each individual case. Some cases are charged on an hourly rate, some on a contingency-fee basis.

In an hourly-rate case, the attorneys record when they work on your case, detailing the work performed and time spent. You will receive an itemized monthly invoice. The invoice is typically paid from a retainer fund. You will receive a copy of all legal memoranda or briefs.

Bates & Riordan recognizes that an important consideration in hiring a lawyer on an hourly basis is the net cost to you when the case is over. Accordingly, at your initial free consultation, we will give you an estimate of the work anticipated to bring your case to a conclusion, and the estimated final cost.
